Following the sacking of Arne Slot, Andoni Iraola looks set to become Liverpool’s next manager.

Liverpool are in advanced talks to appointment former Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola as Arne Slot’s replacement.

After a disappointing season, which saw Liverpool finish fifth in the Premier League and almost miss out on Champions League football, Slot was sacked just a year after he won the league title.

A summer of record-breaking spending, which saw the like of Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike arrive for a total in excess of £300m, led to the Reds’ title defence ending before Christmas.

Slot paid with his job, and now Iraola is in pole position to land the role, according to BBC Sport.

Iraola earlier this month guided Bournemouth to their best ever season in the Premier League, finishing sixth and qualifying to European football for the first time in their history, despite losing their star player, Antoine Semenyo, to Manchester City in January.

Discussions over the make up of Iraola’s coaching staff at Anfield are ongoing, with the report suggesting that the Spaniard wants to bring his assistant coach at Bournemouth, Tommy Elphick, with him.
