Two years after his Nottingham Forest loan was cut short, Andrey Santos has joined Manchester United in a move that could reach £50m.
The 22-year-old midfielder had been due to spend 2023/24 at the City Ground on loan from Chelsea, making only two outings.
He started and played 89 minutes in a 1-0 Carabao Cup defeat to Burnley in August 2023, then came off the bench in a 3-0 Premier League loss at Liverpool in October.
Santos later spent time with Strasbourg, remained at Stamford Bridge last term, and has now left Chelsea to sign a five-year contract with an option of a further 12 months.
He called United special, looked forward to learning from Michael Carrick, and spoke of an ambitious environment and a strong squad aiming for major trophies.
His arrival comes after United missed out to Manchester City for Elliot Anderson, who joined from Forest for a British-record £116m.
Chelsea signed Santos from Vasco da Gama for £16m in 2023, and he went on to make 47 appearances for the Blues.
