Having missed much of the first half of Marseille’s season, Amine Gouiri and Hamed Junior Traoré drove a 5-2 win at Angers on Saturday.
According to L'Équipe, Gouiri, Mason Greenwood, Traoré and Emerson all received 7, while Angers’ Ousmane Camara, Jordan Lefort, Amine Sbaï and Marius Courcoul were given 3.
Gouiri led the line, involved in the first chance on four minutes, then finished a flowing move for 1-0 on 19. Greenwood, used as a No 10 in a 4-2-3-1, doubled it with a low strike on 24 after combining with Emerson, before Traoré, preferred to Paixao, made it three on 34 from Emerson’s second assist.
Gouiri glanced a header just wide on 36, and Traoré teed up Weah for 4-0 on 40. Sbaï pulled one back on 45+2 with his first Ligue 1 goal.
Greenwood hit the bar on 53, then Aubameyang and Paixao replaced Gouiri and Traoré on 61, with O'Riley on for Greenwood and Djibirin for Courcoul on 62. Paixao struck a post on 71 and later scored on 88, before Allevinah, on for Sbaï since 76, made it 5-2 on 90+2 from Djibirin’s pass.
Emerson executed his tucked-in role smartly, linking play and releasing runners. Camara and Lefort endured a torrid night, repeatedly exposed around Marseille’s third and fourth goals. Courcoul started in place of Himad Abdelli, who was omitted as he is being courted by OM.
