Barcelona star Gavi has confirmed that his early withdrawal from the club’s latest outing came in large part owing to a fitness issue.
Youngster Gavi, for his part, was in from the off once more on Sunday, as Barcelona made the trip to Sevilla for a La Liga clash.
En route to a 4-1 Blaugrana triumph, however, the Spanish international was hooked from proceedings at half-time, replaced in Hansi Flick’s XI by Fermín López.
And, in the game’s aftermath, Gavi went on to confirm that as much came with the midfielder having been struggling with an injury concern.
The 20-year-old went to ground in evident distress early in the first-half at The Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, and failed to fully recover before the interval.
“Being subbed off? Honestly, I felt a lot of pain,” Gavi began.
“I told the coach about it and he told me that it was better for me to come off because I had a yellow card and the match was not suitable for taking risks.”
Gavi’s exit from proceedings came after teammate Ronald Araújo had already been hooked with an ankle problem of his own.
