Another up-and-coming member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid is expected to be afforded his first-team starting bow this week.

The player in question? David Jiménez.

The subject of debuts has of course dominated the headlines in Spain’s capital across the last 24 hours.

As much comes after Víctor Valdepeñas was a surprise inclusion in Real Madrid’s XI to face Deportivo Alavés on Sunday night.

Amid the defensive personnel crisis in Xabi Alonso’s squad at present, the 19-year-old was in from the off at left-back, as Los Blancos secured a much-needed return to winning ways.

And a 2nd senior bow could well follow in short order at Real Madrid.

That’s according to Marca, who have revealed that the expectation at Valdebebas is that the aforementioned David Jiménez will be in from the off against Talavera in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday.

21-year-old Jiménez has been widely tipped to take his place at right-back for the evening.
