Antoine Griezmann’s move to Orlando City ‘almost sealed’ | OneFootball

Antoine Griezmann’s (34) move from Atletico Madrid to Orlando City is “almost sealed”, according to a report from L’Équipe. 

Griezmann has never hidden his desire to play in the MLS, however, he has said that it was always a question of timing. And it seems as though the time is now. Sources speaking to L’Équipe speak of a deal “almost sealed”, with another stating that there is a 95% chance that the deal gets done. 

There is nothing that Atletico Madrid can do about it, even if the timing is imperfect for the La Liga giants. When he signed his last deal, which runs until 2027, a tacit agreement was reached, allowing Griezmann to leave the club freely. If that gentleman’s agreement is not maintained, then a source close to the deal has evoked a “derisory” release clause. 

In any case, an agreement between the former France international and Griezmann is very close. However, he wishes to give himself time to make the final decision, as the timing, leaving his teammates mid-season, is not ideal. The likelihood, however, is that he does make the move to Orlando City.
