Antoine Semenyo confirms he wants to join VERY exclusive club with Mo Salah | OneFootball

Liverpool have been extensively linked with Antoine Semenyo of late. The 25-year-old attacker is very much a player in focus due to his form in the Premier League this season.

Already he has netted SIX goals and provided three assists for Bournemouth as they maintain their strong start to the 2025/26 campaign under Andoni Iraola.

Ghana international Semenyo signed a new long-term contract with the Cherries over the summer - with it believed to contain a release clause.

Liverpool would be right there in any deal for the former Bristol City man - owing to extensive links between Semenyo, Bournemouth and current Reds’ sporting director Richard Hughes.

The Scot was technical director for the south coast side when they completed a bargain £10m deal for Semenyo back in January 2023.

And owing to that initial contact there may well be a possibility of Liverpool getting to the front of the queue for the versatile winger.

With Mohamed Salah not getting any younger, the Premier League champions are on the lookout for a new forward who can take up the mantle.

Salah, 33, enjoyed what might well go down as the greatest individual season in Premier League history as the Reds won the title last term. The Egyptian King scored 29 goals and got 18 assists in a stunning performance - finishing with 47 goal involvements.

He was the only Prem player to reach double figures for goals AND for assists last season - with Semenyo now admitting that is a club he is seeking to join this term.

Discussing his goal-setting processes in an interview with Sky Sports, the winger confirmed that he is seeking to reach 10 goals and 10 assists for Bournemouth this term.

"I always want to do better then I did in previous seasons,” he said.

"I set a challenge for myself, saying I wanted to push myself. I can help the team in many ways and compliments to the manager and the players, they've been so helpful.

"I don't want to say too much, but double figures for goals and assists was up there. Passing the ball and shooting at the right time is also key for me. Those are the main ones.

"Fifteen goals would be great. Only last year I've got double figures goals-wise and I like to think I'm a good finisher, so I can give myself the opportunity this year and really kick on.

"I work on my finishing a lot, in the off-season as well. I've been working with my coach in pre-season and we were working on very difficult finishes on tight angles."

Hughes links with Bournemouth could benefit Liverpool

Semenyo also revealed that he is in no rush to leave the south coast club - where he enjoys a fruitful relationship with Iraola.

But it is inevitable a sale will come soon for the emerging superstar - with Bournemouth’s club philosophy to cash in on their biggest assets. Let’s hope Hughes gets the Reds to the front of the queue once again like he did with Milos Kerkez.
