António Silva ‘to join’ Bournemouth, Benfica farewell set for St. Gallen | OneFootball

After 11 years in Benfica colours, António Silva will say his goodbyes on Thursday against St. Gallen, with a move to Bournemouth close. Rui Costa said on Tuesday that talks were under way.

A Bola reports that an understanding between the clubs has been reached, with formalities expected once the squad returns to Lisbon. The final phase is set to involve Rui Costa, Mário Branco, the player and Gestifute representatives led by Jorge Mendes.

Agreement between Silva and Bournemouth has been in place for some time. Only the fee and the timing remained, at a stage when Marco Silva did not wish to lose one of the pillars of the team.

The centre-back has worn the captain’s armband in several matches. Financial terms are unconfirmed, though the deal could be around €25m plus up to €5m in add-ons, close to the €30m sought by Benfica SAD.

If the switch is completed, Silva would reunite with Tiago Pinto, the former Benfica general director now overseeing football at Bournemouth, who continues to back the Seixal-trained defender to make a major impact in the Premier League.
