Real Betis are close to striking an agreement to sign Manchester United winger Antony on loan for the remainder of the season, reports have revealed.
The Spanish side have identified Antony as their top target for the winter window and, after seeing an initial approach rejected, returned with a second bid earlier this week which was reported to be closer to satisfying United.
According to Fabrizio Romano, conversations are now at an advanced stage, with Antony expected to spend the remainder of the season on loan with Betis. The Brazilian is thought to be keen on rebuilding his career in La Liga and has given priority to Betis' interest in the face of competition from Greek side Olympiacos.
United will agree to cover a portion of Antony's wages in a deal which will not include an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.
Betis sporting director Manu Fajardo was quizzed on the club's pursuit of Antony on Saturday and, while he refused to go into details, he did not shy away from confirming his desire to get a deal over the line.
"A very attractive player in this market," Fajardo told Movistar+. "I have little to say about his career. Antony is still a Manchester United player."
