Arbeloa leaves Ceballos out of Real Madrid squad after heated row | OneFootball

Dani Ceballos has been left out of Real Madrid’s squad to face Betis tonight, a strictly technical call that follows a heated row with Álvaro Arbeloa this week.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, Arbeloa has named three academy midfielders, Thiago Pitarch, Cestero and Manuel Ángel, but not Ceballos, despite Tchouaméni being a late absentee due to an overload and Arda Güler ruled out until the World Cup.

That row has convinced Arbeloa to keep him out of his plans. Ceballos has not even warmed up in the last four matches and has never started under his coach.

He has not played a minute since 21 February. His most recent start was in the Cup against Talavera, when Xabi Alonso was in charge, and he has totalled barely 800 minutes this season.

The setback comes in a fixture that is special to him. He had hoped to play in Seville during the April Fair against Betis.

Betis retain an interest in bringing him back. Real Madrid will again open the door for his departure this summer, whoever is the future coach.
