Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni full of praise for Lamine Yamal ahead of World Cup final – “I wish we could lock Lamine in his room…” | OneFootball

Several Barcelona players, most notably Lamine Yamal, will be headlining this edition of the FIFA World Cup final. In fact, with the finalists being Argentina and Spain, Barça fans can rejoice and find a lot of relief in the mere fact that a win for either side is something that they can get behind.

After all, Lionel Messi is the one leading the charge for Argentina while several Barça players are doing the same for Spain. On one side, they have the club’s greatest ever legend and on the other they have the stars of the club’s present and future fighting for glory.

Ahead of the match itself, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano, Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni could not help but praise Lamine Yamal. When asked about how he would approach the game to neutralize the 19-year-old Barcelona and Spain winger, Scaloni replied humorously and then followed it up with genuine praise:

“I wish we could lock Lamine in his room. He’s a fantastic player, a treasure for football, he’s still so very young, with so much more to offer to our game.”

This comes shortly after Lionel Messi himself praised the young player and even addressed his iconic picture with the winger from when he was an infant. Thus, it seems that there is a lot of praise and admiration for Yamal from both the Argentinian coach and his star player heading into what is surely going to be an iconic World Cup final.

As it stands, one of the two countries will be taking the title, but Barça fans can find joy in either outcome considering that everything about that final celebrates the club’s DNA. With multiple La Masia graduates set to take part in the upcoming final, the Catalan club will surely be enjoying their part in it as well.
