Inter Milan returned to winning ways with a vital 2-0 victory away at Pisa, and captain Lautaro Martinez delivered the perfect response to recent criticism by scoring both goals at the Arena Garibaldi.

The win helps Inter close the gap at the top of Serie A while easing the pressure that had built after two consecutive defeats.

Speaking to DAZN after being named Player of the Match, with quotes via FCInterNews, Lautaro made it clear that outside noise does not affect him.

“I’m happy because we won after two losses. Have people criticised me? I’m used to it. I work for myself, for Inter and for my family. I let those on the outside talk, my performances speak for me.”

The Argentine was then asked about becoming Serie A’s top scorer following his brace.

“No, it doesn’t bother me. I’m happy for the team, for my family and for myself. I work for Inter, that’s all,” he added, keeping the focus firmly on the collective rather than personal accolades.

Lautaro also dismissed any concern over his future or the pressure that comes with being the club’s attacking leader.

“How long will this last? I hope a long time. I have many years left on my contract and the people love me. The team comes first, and I always think about working hard. Inter must always win, we’ve fought for everything for many years. People on the outside can talk, but we have to leave Inter as high as possible,” he insisted.

Before leaving, the captain laughed when asked whether he would treat Francesco Pio Esposito to dinner after the youngster assisted the opening goal.

“Of course. They say I never pay? I’ve heard many things, even my teammates joke about it. Being together means a lot for the group. Playing every three days is tough, but when there’s time I’ll organise a barbecue like always,” Lautaro joked.

With leadership and goals, Lautaro ensured Inter left Pisa with more than just three points, they left with renewed belief.
