The future of Julian Alvarez is set to become one of the hottest topics in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Argentine international is facing an uncertain future at Atleti, not helped by the fact that the club are constantly failing to secure silverware.

Barcelona have emerged as one of the potential suitors, alongside the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal, as the forward looks to take the next step in his career.

Alvarez prefers Barcelona over PSG, Arsenal

According to Mundo Deportivo, Alvarez is aware of the interest from PSG and Arsenal but he favours a move to Barcelona.

In the case of Arsenal, the Argentine is not too keen on returning to the Premier League, having previously played for Manchester City.

Although Arsenal are a tempting club for Alvarez, he doesn’t want to return to England. As for PSG, it is even more attractive option for the former River Plate starlet, both from a sporting and economical point of view.

The opportunity to work with Luis Enrique and living in Paris excites the Argentine as well. But he is aware that he will face intense competition for regular game-time at PSG.

That is why the Atletico Madrid forward favours a move to Barcelona, where he will become the focal point of the frontline, alongside Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.

At Barcelona, Alvarez will spearhead the Barcelona attack, acting as the long-term replacement for the ageing Robert Lewandowski, who could be set for a move to Italy this summer, with Juventus emerging as a frontrunner.

The Catalans believe they will face no problems signing Alvarez but have set a strict €100 million cap on transfer fee.
