Jhon Arias has become Palmeiras’ second most expensive signing, with the Colombian attacking midfielder costing 25 million euros, R$ 154 million. The fee will be paid over four years to Wolverhampton in England.

According to Globo.com, only Vitor Roque has cost the club more, with a fixed 25.5 million euros, R$ 154 million at the time, paid in February last year to sign him from Barcelona in Spain.

Palmeiras are in a phase of heavier investment in the market, with their four most significant deals arriving between 2025 and 2026.

Arias had long been a target dating back to his Fluminense days. The club spent the past two months pushing talks and finalised the agreement on Saturday.

The move also ranks among the biggest in Brazilian football. Only Paquetá at Flamengo, 42 million euros, Gerson at Cruzeiro, 27 million euros, and Vitor Roque have cost more.

Arias has agreed a contract until December 2029. He is preparing his move and should travel to Brazil this week. The club have not yet confirmed his arrival date.
