Arnaud Kalimuendo has revived his season on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt after a stuttering start at Nottingham Forest, putting a potential summer role back on the table.

“Kalimuendo has done really, really well. It has been an interesting time for him, because he was a high-profile signing,” he said, speaking to The Athletic.

“In the early stages it did not work out for him, for many different reasons. He has gone over there, he is performing, he is scoring goals… but he is still very positive about his relationship with Forest. He talks to the other players regularly. He has been back to watch games.”

“He is heavily invested in Forest. He will return in the summer and we will see where his future lies at Forest, within the squad plan.”

The 24-year-old joined Forest last summer for £26million on a deal to 2030 but started only three Europa League matches and none in the Premier League. He moved to Eintracht on loan in early January, with Forest bringing in Lorenzo Lucca from Napoli.

The Italian has struggled at the City Ground, while Kalimuendo has made 10 Bundesliga starts, scored four and supplied one assist for seventh-placed Eintracht. Forest loans manager Owen Coyle Jr has visited him.

With Chris Wood set to turn 35 next season, Igor Jesus unproven in the Premier League, Taiwo Awoniyi a rotational option and Lucca’s Napoli future uncertain, a pathway into the first team could open for Kalimuendo.
