Arrests have been made in Budapest ahead of the Champions League final after Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain fans clashed in a mass brawl.

Officials said clashes had broken out in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Several videos have been shared on social media which appear to show Arsenal and PSG supporters fighting and lighting flares.

Police said in a statement: "Several fans got into a fight on May 30, 2026, at around 00:20 in Budapest's 7th district, on Kiraly Street.

"The BRFK 7th District Police Department has initiated proceedings against unknown perpetrators for the crime of gang violence, within the framework of which the camera recordings are also being analysed."

Around 4,000 police officers will be on the streets of Budapest today as tens of thousands of supporters without tickets from both teams descend on the city for the final.

Hungarian deputy national police chief Zoltan Janos Kuczik said: "This will be the largest single-day police deployment in Hungary's history."

A British man and two Portuguese nationals were arrested after an altercation at the fan festival site and charged with disorderly conduct.

Another Briton who climbed onto the roof of a parked car was also arrested.

The Champions League final will kick off in Budapest at 5pm BST.

Arsenal arrive in Hungary on Thursday and face a formidable task in taking on the reigning European champions PSG.

PSG are first holders to reach the final since Real Madrid in 2016-17 and 2017-18, and are aiming to become just the second team to retain the trophy in the modern era.
