Arsenal and Manchester United are pushing to complete deals for Viktor Gyokeres and Bryan Mbeumo before they jet off for pre-season.

Standard Sport reports that the Gunners are hoping to wrap up a deal for Gyokeres before Friday, even though they’ve yet to match Sporting CP’s asking price.

Arsenal initially tabled a bid worth €65 million (£56m) plus an additional €15m (£13m) in add-ons, but it wasn’t enough to get a green light from Sporting.

The Portuguese champions are reportedly holding out for at least €80m (£69m), and they want most of the fee paid upfront if they’re going to sanction the sale of their prized asset.

Gyokeres is due to begin pre-season training with Sporting on Friday, but the Gunners are hoping he will instead be preparing to link up with Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Arsenal have already agreed a five-year deal with Gyokeres, but Sporting are refusing to budge on their demands.

The Portuguese side are in no rush to sell, considering Gyokeres has three years left on his contract, so it’s up to Arsenal to stump up the required fee.

Meanwhile, United are not giving up the chance to land Mbeumo from Brentford.

Like Arsenal, the Red Devils are locked in negotiations with Brentford, but both clubs are still apart in valuation. United have already seen two bids turned down.

However, they’re optimistic about getting a deal done before they start pre-season, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that a third proposal is in the works.

United made an opening bid worth around £55m, but Brentford turned it down. The Bees also rejected a second proposal worth £62.5m from United.

The Red Devils have already welcomed Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers after activating his £62.5m release clause.

Brentford are adamant that Mbeumo is worth more and are believed to be holding out for at least £65m.

Brentford director of football Phil Giles recently said that Mbeumo would be happy to stay with the Bees if both clubs are unable to agree a fee.

Mbeumo has made it clear he wants to join United, so personal terms should be a formality.
