In a recent report, AS revealed that Arsenal are keeping tabs on Real Madrid prospect Victor Valdepenas. It has been mentioned that the Gunners would have to compete with AC Milan and other clubs from the Bundesliga in pursuit of the Spanish centre-back.
Valdepenas has come through the youth ranks of Real Madrid and has done well to break into their first team this season. The 19-year-old has made one senior appearance for Los Blancos so far.
The Spanish talent has caught the eye at times for Real Madrid Castilla and deserves credit for scoring two goals and grabbing one assist in 36 matches for Los Blancos thus far across all competitions.
His current deal at the Madrid club will run out in the summer of 2029. Thus, it won’t be easy for the Gunners to sign him on a cut-price deal later this year.

Valdepenas is a solid tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when the opposition are on the offensive.
The Spanish sensation is primarily a centre-back but can also operate as a left-back if needed. However, Valdepenas is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth at the highest level. Furthermore, there are some concerns over whether he can cope with the physical style and high intensity of the Premier League if the Gunners manage to get a deal over the line for him next summer.
We can expect Valdepenas to bring more quality to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s backline in the long run. He is already good enough to serve as a good, rotational piece in the North London club’s match-day squad.
At 19, Valdepenas has the potential to be a world-class player in his position someday. He is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the future. Hence, Arteta would be wise to try everything in his power to lure him to the Emirates Stadium next summer.
