Arsenal centre-back William Saliba (24) will miss out on the Nations League finals with France after he sustained a hamstring injury, the Premier League side has confirmed. France national team manager Didier Deschamps announced his squad for the Nations League finals. France will take on Spain on Thursday, June 5, at Stuttgart in the semi-finals. Should they win, they would face either Germany or Portugal in the Nations League final on Sunday, June 8, in Munich. The former Saint-Etienne youth product has not been called up to make the trip to Germany.

In his absence and with Bayern Munich centre-back Dayot Upamecano missing out as well, Deschamps has recalled Sevilla’s Loïc Badé, Atlético de Madrid’s Clement Lenglet and gave Juventus’ Pierre Kalulu a first senior call-up. Saliba had to be replaced during Arsenal’s 1-0 win against Newcastle United on Sunday. The France international was forced off at half-time with a hamstring issue. Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta added that Saliba pulled his hamstring against Eddie Howe’s Magpies. “William is going to be out for a few weeks, unfortunately.”
