Arsenal are ‘closely monitoring’ Ademola Lookman’s situation at Atalanta ahead of a potential move before the deadline.

Lookman has emerged as an option for the Gunners as Mikel Arteta looks to add another forward to his squad before the transfer window’s closure.

The London-born winger has been a big hit since signing for Atalanta, where he has scored 32 goals in 78 appearances across the last two seasons.

Lookman netted 17 times for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side in 2023/24, including a hat-trick in the 3-0 thrashing of German champions Bayer Leverkusen in the Eruopa League final. He became the first player to net a hat-trick in a one-legged European final since Pierino Prati in 1969.

Paris Saint-Germain are pushing to sign the 26-year-old as the French champions seek a replacement for the departed Kylian Mbappe and injured Goncalo Ramos.

According to Sky Germany, the Nigeria international has reached a ‘total verbal agreement’ with the Parisians and is keen on the move to Ligue 1. However, negotiations over a permanent deal are stalling and Arsenal are watching the situation in case of an opportunity to capitalise.

Lookman came through the academy system at Charlton Athletic and has had spells at Everton, RB Leipzig, Fulham and Leicester. Named as Atalanta’s Player of the Season in each of the last two campaigns, he represented England up to u-21 level before switching his international allegiance to the Super Eagles.
