Gunners move for the St Mirren winger after missing out on a loan deal for James Wilson
Arsenal have completed a move for St Mirren winger Evan Mooney.
Talks had advanced between the two clubs and there was always an expectation that a permanent deal would be wrapped up on transfer Deadline Day.
The 18-year-old will join up with Arsenal's academy, rather than being involved in any first-team plans.
It is understood that St Mirren will have a sell-on clause included in the deal.
A statement via the club's website reads: "Evan Mooney has joined our academy from Scottish Premiership side St Mirren.
"The 18-year-old has made 23 appearances in all competitions for St Mirren since making his senior debut at the beginning of the 2024/25 campaign.
"A product of St Mirren’s academy, capable of playing in attacking midfield or as a centre-forward, Evan's league debut came in October 2024 in a defeat to Hearts.
"He went on to score his first and only senior goal just a couple of months later, coming off the bench to score an 88th-minute equaliser in his team’s 3-2 win away to St Johnstone.
"In Evan’s early career, he has already experienced silverware, coming on in the Scottish League Cup final to see his team beat Celtic 3-1 back in December 2025.
"A Scotland youth international, Evan has made six appearances at under-19 level for his country.
"Everyone at Arsenal would like to congratulate Evan and welcome him to the club."
Arsenal had also held talks with Hearts to register their interest in another Scottish teenager, James Wilson.
That would have been for a loan deal until the end of the season, but Wilson has instead joined north London rivals Tottenham.
Meanwhile, the Gunners have reached an agreement to sign Jaden Dixon from Stoke and have also allowed Osman Kamara to join Blackburn on a rather busy deadline day.
