Arsenal were crowned Premier League champions after Manchester City drew 1-1 at Bournemouth, leaving the leaders four points clear with one match to play.

According to Le Progres, it is Arsenal’s first league title in 22 years, last achieved in 2004 in the era of Arsène Wenger’s Invincibles with Thierry Henry, Robert Pirès and Patrick Vieira.

Arsenal sit on 82 points and cannot be caught by Pep Guardiola’s side, who are on 78. Guardiola will not claim a seventh league crown with the club from the north of England, which he is set to leave after ten years and 20 trophies. Arsenal could yet complete a historic double by winning a first Champions League on 30 May against Paris Saint-Germain in Budapest.

Bournemouth went ahead on 39 minutes through 19-year-old French forward Junior Kroupi, who curled beyond Gianluigi Donnarumma after a strong run down the left from compatriot Adrien Truffert. City, needing victory to stay in the race, equalised through Erling Haaland at 90+5.

The result stretched Bournemouth’s unbeaten run to 17 matches. They are sixth on 56 points and will play in Europe for the first time in their history. Kroupi’s 13 league goals in his debut Premier League season have been central to that surge.

Before Budapest, Mikel Arteta’s team finish at Crystal Palace on Sunday, a match that now serves mainly to celebrate with their supporters.
