Arsenal frustrated Manchester United’s plans to sign Sporting Club player

Morten Hjulmand attracted significant transfer interest during the last window, but Arsenal’s dealings may have hindered his potential move away from Sporting Club in the market. The Danish midfielder has established himself as a key figure for the Portuguese side and is regarded as one of the most accomplished players in his position in Europe.

Manchester United’s Interest Blocked

Hjulmand was reportedly open to the prospect of a transfer, with Manchester United leading the race for his signature. Having gone through extended discussions to finalise that transfer, Sporting were reluctant to engage in another lengthy saga during the same window. As a result, Hjulmand remained in Lisbon, while United were forced to look elsewhere.

Arsenal’s Gain, Sporting’s Stance

For Arsenal, the acquisition of Gyokeres was a major boost, as he is widely recognised as one of the most talented forwards available on the market. The completion of that deal may have indirectly prevented United from strengthening their midfield, but the focus for the Gunners remains on maximising the impact of their new signing.

Gyokeres has already demonstrated why Arsenal were determined to secure his services, delivering performances that underline his value to the team. The club will be eager to ensure he continues this trajectory and contributes decisively in the coming weeks.

As for Hjulmand, his future remains uncertain. While Sporting succeeded in holding on to him for now, interest from top European clubs is unlikely to fade, particularly if he continues to perform at a high level.
