Arsenal have joined Liverpool and Manchester United in pursuing Sporting CP midfielder Morten Hjulmand, with interest growing ahead of the next transfer window.

That’s according to Fichajes, who report that the Danish international’s style of play has made him an appealing prospect for multiple Premier League giants.

Hjulmand, known for his leadership and ability to control the pace of play, has been linked with Manchester United since last summer.

United were initially in the market for a replacement for Casemiro but eventually chose to sign Manuel Ugarte.

However, Fichajes claim the potential for United to add Hjulmand remains, especially with players like Scott McTominay departing and the futures of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen uncertain.

Arsenal’s interest adds another layer to the transfer rumour, with Liverpool also said to be closely monitoring the situation.

Sporting CP are aware of the high demand for the 24-year-old, who has impressed both domestically and internationally and is valued at around €40m. Given he is under contract until 2028, they have little to worry about presently.

Brian Riemer, the Danish national team manager and former Brentford assistant, has praised Hjulmand for his leadership, communication, and versatility on the pitch, qualities which he believes are becoming increasingly rare.

Former Danish goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen has also weighed in, highlighting Hjulmand’s partnership with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the national team. His consistent performances have placed him on the radar of top clubs across Europe, and a move to the Premier League next season seems increasingly likely.

Whether Arsenal can outmanoeuvre their rivals remains to be seen, but the Gunners’ interest signals their intention to strengthen their midfield further.
