Real Madrid had a very successful summer transfer window, as they were able to hold on to key first team players as well as make the signings of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen, Franco Mastantuono and Alvaro Carreras. Rodrygo Goes could have departed for the Premier League or Bayern Munich, while another that had attracted interest was Arda Guler.
Guler had a tough first two years at Real Madrid, but since the arrival of Xabi Alonso as head coach, he has thrived. There had been chances for him to leave if Carlo Ancelotti had remained, especially with clubs having considered a move to prise him away from the Santiago Bernabeu.
One of those was Arsenal, who have a long-term interest in Guler. And they have now re-activated this, with CaughtOffside reporting that they – alongside north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur – have been scouting the Real Madrid playmaker in recent weeks.

Aside from Arsenal and Spurs, scouts from Newcastle United, Milan, Borussia Dortmund, and RB Leipzig are all said to have been spotted at La Liga fixtures. These clubs believe that there could be chances for Guler to be available in 2026, should his prominence levels drop following the return of Jude Bellingham after his recovery from shoulder surgery.
Despite this, Real Madrid and Alonso are clear that Guler is not for sale, with the report stating that they have “made their position crystal clear, Arda is not on the market. No price tag has been set because the club see him as an investment in both sporting success and long-term strategy.”
It makes a lot of sense for Real Madrid to count on Guler for many years to come. He has been excellent so far this season, which included him being the shining light for Los Blancos in their humbling Madrid derby defeat at the weekend.
