In an ideal world, Arsenal fans would have had six loanees to keep an eye on over the weekend, but it ended up being an extremely quiet couple of days on that front.
Fulham faced Everton on Saturday, Sevilla travelled away to Celta Vigo, and Lazio hosted Juventus in a significant Serie A clash. But Reiss Nelson, Albert Sambi Lokonga, and Nuno Tavares all missed out through injury.
Next up were Real Valladolid, away to Mallorca. Karl Hein returned from injury recently, but he’s been consigned to the bench since his comeback, and Saturday was no exception.

On Sunday, Cruzeiro played away to Sport, but Marquinhos missed out on the squad completely. There’s been no confirmation of an injury to the loan winger, but this is now the second game in a row he’s sat out of.
Finally, in the last game of the weekend, Fabio Vieira made the starting lineup for Porto away to Boavista.
The Arsenal midfielder played 85 minutes, had four shots and created three chances in a busy performance, ultimately helping his team to a 2-1 win.

With Braga losing to Casa Pia, Porto’s result was effectively enough to secure them qualification for the Europa League’s League Phase next season.
Porto could hypothetically drop to fourth (and a Europa League qualifying round spot) on the final day, but only if they lose and Braga overturn a seven-goal goal difference gap.
Porto fans will likely find their minds drifting to their participation in the Club World Cup, which kicks off on June 15th.
