The message for the Gunners boss is clear

It finished level after 120 minutes, with Arsenal taking the lead early through Kai Havertz before they were pegged back by an Ousmane Dembele penalty.

Arsenal will hold a trophy parade through the streets of north London on Sunday afternoon to celebrate the Premier League title success but it will be mixed emotions after this shootout heartbreak.

The majority of the players will then fly out to the World Cup but for Arteta the focus will soon turn to the new season. He suggested it could be a busy summer in the transfer market for the club.

"First of all I will take a few days with my family and then will start the process to review what we've done," Arteta said.

"We will start to make some very important decisions if we want to reach another level. And we're going to have to show that ambition because we are more than capable of doing it, but it's going to demand to be very, very ambitious, very fast and very smart."

That desire for Arsenal to act swiftly has been enhanced by what Arteta has seen from PSG.

Luis Enrique named the same ten outfield players that also started last season's Champions League final and they have cemented their place at the top of football's elite.

Asked if he looked at PSG and wanted to replicate some of the attacking freedom and fluidity they played with, Arteta replied: "Yes and individual action that they have for sure.

"And then you have to get into the competition with all the squad available in the best moment, each player. We've had more players, many more players than last season but not all of them in that condition for different reasons.

"That's something that we have to improve as well."

The Arsenal manager added: "I want to congratulate PSG, Luis in particular, because they are in my opinion the best team in the world. What they are able to do with the ball, with individual actions, I haven't seen it.

"It's not the plan to play in certain areas when you don't have the ball, but they force you to do that. So even more credit to the players."
