Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapie started at Stamford Bridge with both first-choice Gunners centre-backs sidelined
William Saliba will undergo a test on Monday as Arsenal seek to learn the extent of the injury that forced him to miss Sunday’s game at Chelsea.
Saliba was left out of the squad entirely for the high-profile Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge, which ended in a 1-1 draw, after picking up a knock in training on Saturday.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is unsure how long the Frenchman will be on the sidelines as he prepares to undergo further examination by medical staff. Arsenal are next in action on Wednesday night, when they host Brentford.
“I think he has got another test tomorrow, Willy, see to the extent of that feeling, that sensation that he had, and we will know more,” said Arteta.
Arsenal also remained without Saliba’s regular centre-back partner Gabriel on Sunday due to a thigh injury.
The defender picked up the issue playing for Brazil earlier this month in a friendly against Senegal.
Asked about his progress after the draw at Chelsea, Arteta said: “With Gabi, [there are] still some weeks to go.”
In the absence of Gabriel and Saliba, the Gunners were forced to start summer signings Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapie in the heart of defence against Chelsea.
