Arsenal have turned a corner this season with regards to disciplinary issues.
At this stage of the Premier League campaign last year, the Gunners already had three different players sent-off across three separate fixtures.
Leandro Trossard then suffered the same fate against Manchester City a few weeks later before William Saliba saw red as the Gunners slumped to defeat against Bournemouth.
To Arsenal’s credit, they have since cleaned up their act and are on a run of 13 Premier League games without a red card - the last being Mikel Merino’s sending off in the 2-2 draw against Liverpool in May.
However, the period where suspension risks become a big talking point is fast approaching which means there are few Arsenal players who will need to watch their step.
The fact that Mikel Arteta has seen his options stretched with Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz, Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli missing significant game time already, he will be stressing the importance of a needless ban.
Which Arsenal players are close to a suspension?
Players who pick up five yellow cards in the first 19 Premier League matches of the season will receive a one-match ban. The threshold for a suspension after that point in the campaign is raised to 10 bookings after 32 matches.
Arsenal’s match against Aston Villa on December 30 is the final game in which suspensions will be handed out for a fifth yellow card.
As things stand, Riccardo Calafiori is the Arsenal player most at risk of a ban having been booked three times in the first 11 Premier League matches.
The Italian is facing a race against the clock to be available for selection against Tottenham following an injury scare while on international duty, but is free to take part in the North London Derby as well as next weekend’s clash with Chelsea provided he is fit.

Martin Zubimendi and Jurrien Timber - ‘lucky to avoid a red card in the 2-2 draw with Sunderland’ - are both on two yellow cards.
Meanwhile, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Gabriel, Victor Gyokeres and David Raya are all on one yellow card which means they are relatively free of the threat of a one-game suspension.
