Arsenal will conclude their preparations for the new season with the Emirates Cup clash against Athletic Club on Saturday.
The Gunners face the Spanish side on home soil after their disappointing 3-2 defeat to Villarreal in midweek. There could be returns for several key players, including Kai Havertz, who missed the Villarreal match as a precaution.
Mikel Arteta will be keen for his side to end pre-season positively ahead of their Premier League opener against Manchester United.
Kai Havertz is expected to return after missing Wednesday’s defeat to Villarreal. The German forward felt something during training and was rested as a precautionary measure but should be available for selection.
Viktor Gyökeres will be looking to build on his debut against Villarreal following his £55m (€65m) arrival from Sporting CP. The Swedish striker made his first appearance in Wednesday’s defeat and will be eager to impress.
Gabriel Magalhães and Jurrien Timber both returned from long-term injuries against Villarreal. Gabriel’s comeback from hamstring surgery provides a significant boost to Arteta’s defensive options.
Riccardo Calafiori remains a doubt with a minor strain, whilst Leandro Trossard continues his recovery from a groin injury sustained during their Asian tour.
Arsenal predicted XI: Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly; Ødegaard, Zubimendi, Nørgaard; Saka, Gyökeres, Madueke.
Arsenal take on Athletic Club at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, 9th August 2025. Kick-off in North London is 5pm BST.
Arsenal will stream the match live on their official channels and website. The fixture will also be available via the Arsenal app for supporters worldwide.
