Arsenal continue their Premier League title push this weekend with what looks to be a favourable fixture against newly promoted Leeds United.

Mikel Arteta’s side will be aiming for two wins from two after grinding out a crucial 1-0 victory at Old Trafford in their season opener. Despite a lacklustre overall display, a header from Riccardo Calafiori proved decisive against Manchester United.

That match also saw the debut of marquee signing Viktor Gyokeres, though the Swedish striker endured a frustrating afternoon. He failed to muster a single shot on target before being substituted on the hour mark.

Leeds, meanwhile, marked their return to the top flight in winning fashion, edging Everton 1-0 at Elland Road. The decisive moment came from the penalty spot, converted by new signing Lucas Nmecha, a former Manchester City academy graduate.

Daniel Farke’s side have been busy in the transfer market as they look to strengthen their squad and avoid the fate that has so often befallen newly promoted clubs. With survival the clear priority, Leeds will see this trip to the Emirates as an early test of their resilience.

Arsenal vs Leeds is scheduled for a 5:30pm BST kick-off on Saturday, August 23, 2025.

Arsenal vs Leeds team news

Arsenal will be without Kai Havertz for the clash after the forward was ruled out with a knee injury, though Leandro Trossard is back in contention.

Despite the win at Old Trafford, Arsenal’s overall performance was underwhelming, leaving the door open for Noni Madueke to challenge for starting spots if Mikel Arteta decides to rotate the squad. Gabriel Jesus remains the only other absentee, with a return still several months away.

Eberechi Eze would need to be registered by 12pm BST on Friday to be eligible to make his Arsenal debut.

Leeds, in contrast, enter their second Premier League fixture with a fully fit squad.

The club is close to finalising the signing of AC Milan forward Noah Okafor, but a place in the squad for Saturday may come too soon for the Swiss international.

Arsenal vs Leeds prediction

Arsenal have enjoyed a dominant record against Leeds, remaining unbeaten in their last 14 encounters across all competitions (W12 D2) and winning each of the last six meetings.

The Gunners also boast an impressive streak in the Premier League, going 42 home games without defeat against newly promoted sides (W37 D5).

Mikel Arteta has been particularly successful against Leeds during his tenure as Arsenal manager, facing them more often without losing than any other club (P8 W7 D1), including a perfect five wins at the Emirates.

With their first home game of the season approaching, Arteta will be eager for Arsenal to make a statement. Fans can expect fluid attacking football and goals flying in as the Gunners look to set the tone for their title charge.
