Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, journalist Pete O’Rourke mentioned that Arsenal would consider recruiting Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo. O’Rourke said,
“Yeah, well look, there’s no surprise that some of these biggest clubs in England are looking at Semenyo.
“Liverpool, we know their links with Bournemouth through Richard Hughes, and Manchester United showed some interest in Semenyo in the summer.
“Tottenham also showed a bit of an interest during the summer, and I’m sure Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal would all consider Semenyo.
“The thing is for all those interested clubs, his price tag’s going up week by week and Bournemouth could put it up beyond £100million if his performances continue.
“Bournemouth are bracing themselves for interest in Semenyo. I don’t see a move happening in January just due to the price tag that would it take to get him out.
“I think Bournemouth probably are expecting serious offers for the player come next summer, having done well to keep hold of him this summer and tie him down to a new contract.”
Semenyo has made a great start to this campaign as he has put in a string of impressive displays for the Cherries in the final third. The 25-year-old has featured in eight matches for Bournemouth this season, scoring six goals and grabbing three assists on all fronts.

The Ghanaian talent has proven his worth in the final third by averaging 2.29 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has kept 50% of his shots on target. However, Semenyo has to be more careful when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 67.1% in league football (stats via fbref.com).
Semenyo is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the eye to play some decisive passes on the offensive end of the field. He can shoot the ball with venom from long range and has added plenty of goals and assists to his game this season.
The Ghanaian talent would bring more pace and goals to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s attack. He is more than capable of fighting for a regular starting spot at the Emirates Stadium.
At 25, Semenyo has his best years ahead of him, which makes a good choice for the Gunners to consider this January or at the end of this campaign.
