Arthur Elias names Brazil women's squad for FIFA Series

At an event held on Wednesday morning (25), head coach Arthur Elias announced the Brazil Women’s National Team squad for the FIFA Series. A total of 26 players were called up for the matches against South Korea, Zambia, and Canada.

The competition is organized by FIFA. For the tournament, world football’s governing body supports its member associations in organizing international friendlies involving four national teams from different confederations in a single host country. In Brazil, the matches will be played at Arena Pantanal, in Cuiabá, Mato Grosso.

During a press conference, Arthur Elias looked ahead to the Canarinha’s upcoming challenges and highlighted the impact the tournament will have in Brazil.

“We are going to face different styles of play, and that is the goal of the FIFA Series: to promote exchange between different continents. The South Korea team is very competitive and we have never played against them; the match against Zambia will be very physical and fast in transition, and I think it will be great for training our ability to break down more compact teams; and against Canada, which is a top-level team, a former Olympic champion, and one Brazil has faced many times, I was happy to have that matchup again,” he said.

“We hope the competition brings positive results off the field for women’s football in Brazil, that it serves as a moment of encouragement for Mato Grosso, and that everyone there can do something for the development of the sport. We will have some activities before the tournament that could be important and have a good impact,” he added.

During this period, the head of delegation for the Women’s National Team will be Diego Pécora, president of the Mato Grosso Football Federation.
