The Senegalese phenomenon missed the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Assane Diao dreams of the World Cup
Assane Diao made his return to action on February 28 in Serie A after nearly three months on the sidelines with a hamstring injury. Now, he's dreaming of joining the Teranga Lions' quest at the 2026 World Cup.
The timing hasn't favored Assane Diao, who only returned to action last Saturday after a lengthy layoff that cost him a place at the Africa Cup of Nations and the Lions' triumph in Morocco. But he still dares to dream! With 99 days to go until the World Cup kicks off, the 20-year-old is determined to do everything he can to convince coach Baba Thiago.
"I needed to play (some minutes), I hadn't played in a long time, since December. I have to gradually get my rhythm back with the team, but I'm happy to be back on the pitch," he told DAZN.The Como talent doesn't hide his ambition to feature at the World Cup.
They won (his national teammates), and I feel like I won with them too. I want to thank all the fans of Senegal and Como for their support. I hope I'll be there at the World Cup.
With the World Cup approaching, competition is fierce for places in the Senegal squad. Assane Diao, who played 11 minutes last week against US Lecce in Serie A, first needs to reclaim his starting spot with Como.
