Sunderland face competition for Barcelona winger Roony Bardghji, with SportsBoom claiming Aston Villa are now the frontrunners, while TEAMtalk says Leeds United are well positioned to land the 20-year-old.

TEAMtalk reports Leeds are long-term admirers and that Bardghji would consider a loan this summer. It adds that Brighton and Hove Albion, Brentford and Everton have also shown interest, and that Barcelona want to clear space after signing Anthony Gordon ahead of possible moves for Marcus Rashford, Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez and former Manchester City attacking midfielder Bernardo Silva.

Regis Le Bris and Sunderland are working to bolster the squad for a Europa League campaign, with added depth viewed as essential for a heavier fixture list.

After the final day win at Chelsea, Le Bris said he does not expect a repeat of last summer’s upheaval. He accepted some areas need strengthening and stressed recruitment will shape the season, noting the club’s structure has improved and scouting scope has widened.

Other recent links include Neom midfielder Amadou Kone and a Lorient player. Bardghji, formerly of FC Copenhagen, is among several wide options being considered, and SportsBoom adds that Villa’s negotiations are expected to accelerate in the coming days.
