Aston Villa have Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki on their radar if they have to replace Emiliano Martinez this summer, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Martinez has been linked with a move away from Villa Park, and manager Unai Emery is preparing for life without him.
Juventus are in talks with his representatives, but club-to-club negotiations have not yet started.
Villa have been scouting Suzuki for several months, with two other options on their radar.
The Japanese international was previously linked with Manchester United, and a move to the Premier League could be on the cards.
The 23-year-old boasts ‘unbelievable reflexes‘ and can launch long throws 20 metres over the halfway line for counter-attacking purposes. He is also comfortable on the ball.
Suzuki is quick to get down for low saves and is brilliant in catching crosses, ranking second in Europe’s major leagues for most crosses caught in 2024-25.
The Japanese caught 55 crosses for Parma that season, 21 more than his nearest rival in Serie A.
Only Barcelona’s Joan Garcia made more with 60 in Europe’s major leagues. Martinez caught 52 crosses.
It is clear why Villa are convinced he has what it takes to replace the Argentinian in goal.
Nothing concrete is on the cards, but Villa will continue to monitor him and could make a move once Martinez leaves.
