Manchester United midfield target Ederson was notably absent from Atalanta’s 1-1 draw with Fiorentina last night.
The Brazilian is edging closer to a move to Old Trafford, with personal terms agreed and talks between the two clubs at an advanced stage.
The 26-year-old has emerged as a priority signing for United, who are seeking to reinforce their midfield options ahead of next season.
Ederson had featured in 30 of Atalanta’s 37 Serie A matches before Friday’s trip to Stadio Artemio Franchi, underlining his importance to La Dea throughout the campaign.
He has made 41 appearances in all competitions this season, bagging three goals and two assists.
Atalanta manager Raffaele Palladino confirmed Ederson’s absence was linked to his potential transfer.
Palladino said: “Ederson out? It was a decision we agreed with the boy because there is movement in the transfer market.
“The fact that such a player is being followed by such a big club should be a source of pride.”
Ederson is under contract until June 2027, but the club’s leverage will diminish if they fail to secure a transfer fee this summer.
