Atalanta have set their sights on Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bayer Leverkusen winger Kerim Alajbegovic after earlier links with Roma, according to Sky Sport Italia.
The left-sided attacker shone for his country, helping them come through the play-offs to reach the 2026 World Cup, and spent this season at RB Salzburg.
He scored 13 goals and supplied four assists in 44 competitive games for the Austrian club, so Bayer Leverkusen activated their €8m buy-back option.
Alajbegovic is not expected to remain in Leverkusen, with several clubs lining up, and he turns 19 in September. Interested sides include Roma, Napoli, Inter, Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City and Benfica.
Atalanta are said to be ready to reinvest the €55m plus €5m in add-ons that Chelsea are set to pay for Marco Palestra.
Maurizio Sarri tends to favour a 4-3-3, and Alajbegovic can play on the left or right of a trident attack.
