Athletic Club in fresh attempt to ‘torpedo’ Barcelona’s move for Nico Williams | OneFootball

Those in a position of power at Athletic Club have this week continued to work towards bringing a definitive halt to La Liga rivals Barcelona’s push for Nico Williams.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards as much as having come by way of a release on the official website of the Basque side.

Athletic over the last 24 hours updated the home page of their site, with a striking new image…

This comes in the form of none other than the aforementioned Nico donning Athletic’s home kit for the 2025/26 campaign.

Whilst all signs continue to point towards the 22-year-old departing for Barcelona this summer, the brass at San Mamés are refusing to thrown in the towel in efforts to keep hold of Nico against the odds.

As per a report from Sport:

‘President Jon Uriarte is trying to torpedo the transfer by all means and, in recent days, Athletic launched another pressure manoeuvre (the new Nico image).’
