Victory at Atalanta in the Champions League offered Athletic Club respite, but Ernesto Valverde now faces an escalating list of injuries and suspensions.

It was their first win outside the Copa del Rey since 6 December, when they beat Atlético de Madrid. Attention turns to Saturday's trip to Sevilla at the Sánchez Pizjuán. According to Superdeporte, Almeyda's position is on the line and even a draw could cost him his job.

Valverde is without Yeray Álvarez, who is serving a doping ban. Unai Eguiluz and Beñat Prados are long-term absentees after anterior cruciate ligament ruptures. Lekue and Guruzeta were sent off in the last match, ruling out two rotation options.

Iñaki Williams and Maroan Sannadi are also confirmed out through injury. Fitness doubts will linger until Friday over Laporte, Yuri, Berenguer and Nico Williams.

Yuri, plus the Navarrese wingers Berenguer and Nico Williams, trained on Thursday, so there is hope they can make the trip to Andalusia.
