Atlético Madrid have landed an early blow in their Champions League play-off against Club Brugge.
Diego Simeone's outfit were denied a top eight place after dropping points in their final two league phase games.
However, the LaLiga outfit were intent on taking the initiative against their belgian opponents on Wednesday and a familiar face gave Atléti an early lead.

Julián Álvarez dispatched a penalty in the seventh minute, lashing into the bottom corner and leaving Simon Mignolet rooted to the spot.
That goal extended the Argentinian's exceptional run of form in the Champions League.
Things got even better for the Madrid outfit before the break as Ademola Lookman bagged his first Champions League goal and extended Atléti's lead.
