Atlético de Madrid director of football Mateu Alemany ruled out Antoine Griezmann leaving mid-season on Saturday, despite talks with MLS side Orlando City, speaking before their La Liga match against Real Sociedad.
According to L'Équipe, Alemany said the striker has this season plus two more left on his contract. He described Griezmann as a club legend in outstanding form and said he would continue with Atlético.
Griezmann, aged 34, is Atlético’s all-time leading scorer with 210 goals. He has been strongly linked with a move to MLS for several years.
The former France vice-captain has 137 caps and 44 goals. He has been open about his interest in the United States and its professional leagues, particularly the NFL and NBA.
The MLS primary transfer window runs from 26 January to 26 March, with a secondary window from 13 July to two September.
