Ange-Yoan Bonny is finding it difficult to accept Inter Milan’s heartbreaking 2-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid this evening.
Speaking to Sky Sport via FCInterNews, the Frenchman admitted that ‘losing like this’ leaves a mark.
Inter headed into proceedings seeking redemption following a dismal 1-0 loss in Sunday’s Milan derby.
However, the game couldn’t have started any worse for the Nerazzurri, as Julian Alvarez fired Atletico 1-0 up in the ninth minute.
Meanwhile, Cristian Chivu’s side replied at the beginning of the second half through Piotr Zielinski.
Indeed, the 31-year-old midfielder scored his first goal in the Champions League for Inter.
Though it looked like Inter would leave Madrid unbeaten, Jose Maria Gimenez netted a last-gasp winner for Atletico.
Therefore, Ange-Yoan Bonny will try to forget his maiden Champions League start as quickly as possible.
Despite Inter’s loss, the French striker fared well, even though he failed to get on the scoresheet.
Bonny set Zielinski up for the equalizing goal, registering his fifth assist in all competitons this season.

“Losing like this at the end hurts, but it’s part of the game,” Bonny said after the match. “We’ll lift our heads.
“You fall down, and you get back up,” he added.
Furthermore, Bonny urged his teammates to ‘learn’ from their mistakes in these high-stakes games.
“We must learn from matches like this, against a great team and in such a difficult atmosphere.
“But to win, you have to do things this way.”
Asked what he felt after the final whistle, Bonny replied: “Bitterness, because we know our qualities.
“Today is tough, but you fall, and you get back up.”
Inter won’t have to wait long for their chance to bounce back as they take on Serie A minnows Pisa on Sunday afternoon.
