Antoine Griezmann, who recently committed his future to Atlético Madrid by signing a contract extension, will start the club’s FIFA Club World Cup opener against European champions Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday night.
Griezmann, whose deal had been set to expire this summer, signed a new deal that runs until 2027. He is expected to lead the line alongside Julián Alvarez at the Rose Bowl with Diego Simeone expected to deploy his Atletico Madrid side in a 4-4-2.
The Argentine manager doesn’t have any injury concerns heading into the Club World Cup opener, although he does have plenty of decisions to make. France international Clement Lenglet, who recently made an unsuccessful return to the international scene, is expected to start on the bench, as will his compatriot, Thomas Lemar.
