Atlético Madrid ‘boosted’ in chances of landing Tottenham star this summer | OneFootball

La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have been afforded a boost in their ongoing pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur star Cristian Romero this summer.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards as much as having come owing to the change in management in north London.

Tottenham dropped something of a bombshell on Friday, in announcing that Ange Postecoglou had been dismissed as manager of the club.

The call came just weeks on from Postecoglou leading Spurs to glory in the Europa League.

And the understanding is that as much has not gone down at all well amongst the playing squad in England’s capital.

Left particularly perplexed by Daniel Levy’s decision was the aforementioned Cristian Romero, a known summer transfer target on the part of Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid.

In turn, as per MD:

‘The dismissal of the Greek-Australian coach has boosted Atlético de Madrid’s hopes of signing Romero. Reports in England say the Argentine center-back is even considering leaving Tottenham due to this situation.’
