Atlético Madrid identify their two leading summer transfer targets | OneFootball

The brass at La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have circled two names in red amid an ongoing search for reinforcements for next season.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Cristian Romero and Álex Baena as the players in question.

Despite the season having yet to come to a conclusion, the transfer team at Atlético Madrid are already hard at work behind the scenes, in an effort to identify potential options to reinforce Diego Simeone’s squad for next season.

The understanding is that the Rojiblancos are eager to add fresh blood both at centre-back, and in attacking midfield.

And as alluded to above, on Tuesday, confirmation of the first-choice targets for each area has been forthcoming.

As per MD:

‘Atlético de Madrid has already identified its priority targets for the upcoming transfer window. The star signings will be Álex Baena and ‘Cuti’ Romero.’

Should the Metropolitano board be truly hopeful of landing both Tottenham stopper Romero and Villarreal standout Baena, they will need to open the chequebook in a major way, with both players expected to fetch a premium fee on the market.
