Adding to an already impressive window, Ajax want to bring FC Twente right-back Bart van Rooij to their ranks.
As described by Dutch media, Van Rooij impressed as Twente finished fourth in the Eredivisie last season, registering three goals and five assists in 33 league matches.
Van Rooij joined the Tukkers from NEC two years ago for around 900,000 euros. This fee feels like a steal right now, especially as Twente had previously rejected Wolverhampton Wanderers before they opted for AZ’s David Moller Wolfe instead. Now, Ajax Technical Director Jordi Cruijff wants to bring him to Amsterdam.
According to ESPN NL, the first conversation between Ajax and Van Rooij has already taken place. “Van Rooij has been closely monitored by Ajax over the past few months and is highly regarded at the Johan Cruijff ArenA,” the outlet claims. He is expected to replace Anton Gaaei, who looks to be leaving, although a transfer to Eintracht Frankfurt fell through.
Twente reportedly value their star right-back at around 10 million euros, yet Ajax deem this excessive. Feyenoord had previously pulled out due to the asking price. The wing-back still has a contract in Enschede until the summer of 2028.
