Augusto Melo has filed an urgent petition on Monday to annul a Corinthians Deliberative Council vote that could confirm his expulsion from the club’s membership. The meeting is scheduled for 18:00 at the Teatro do Parque São Jorge.

According to Central do Timão, the filing seeks provisional relief against Corinthians and acting council president Leonardo Pantaleão. The case has been lodged with the Tatuapé regional civil court and is under analysis after fees were paid.

Melo, deposed in August 2025, is under scrutiny over 31 May 2025 events at Parque São Jorge, when supporters tried to reinstall him. His lawyer Ricardo Jorge alleges intimidation of interim president Osmar Stabile and says the narrative changed.

In a video, Melo rejected expulsion, said he will not resign and criticised the accusations, including an alleged coup attempt he says police shelved. He said he respects the club’s democracy and statutes and trusts the facts will prevail.

The defence says there is no specific charge under the Statute and that an administrative appeal was not sent to the Deliberative Council board. It also alleges Pantaleão lacked impartiality after roles in the Ethics Commission and the council, and that the club withheld raw CCTV and failed to summon him formally.

Councillors will also vote on other cases, with further hearings on 8 June.

The Ethics Commission recommends expelling Melo, deeming him the main political beneficiary of the attempted occupation, and seeks penalties for 12 councillors. Voting is expected to be open and nominal, entry is restricted, and expulsion would sever membership with any return subject to review. The case follows last week’s approval of ex-president Andrés Sanchez’s expulsion.
