The MLS was fully back this week, with plenty of games to enjoy a good night of soccer. Many milestones were reached, and certain players continue to boost their reputations with standout performances.
We’ve recently discussed the player of the match award won by Luis Suarez and what it meant. Now, there is another player who also got recognition during his clash.
I’m talking about the Austin FC 3, the Seattle Sounders 1 at Q2 Stadium, and I’m talking about the youngster Ervin Torres.
In a match that, beforehand, looked like it was going to end in a draw, Austin FC came alive at the end of the game and pulled off an essential result to stay alive in the race.
Now, in case you didn't watch the match, and regarding the topic I'm talking about today, Ervin Torres provided the last two assists that gave his team the victory.
By performing those assists, Torres became the fourth teenager in MLS history to produce multiple assists as a substitute in a match, and the second this season (Cavan Sullivan).
With this victory, The Oaks get closer to the playoff spots. Even though it is a long road, it is also a long season.
Now, the team knows they can trust Torres to make the right pass when the moment is right, and they won the game with his help.
Being 18 years old makes him a bet for the near future, and an interesting prospect for Austin FC to develop.
Either way, the Oaks need all the help they can get, and it's good that one of those sources of help is a young player with tremendous potential who had a good game against a tough team like the Sounders.
