After missing out on four league matches, Auston Trusty got back into the thick of things in Celtic’s two most recent SPFL games as the Celts finished off their pre-split matches with wins over Dundee and St Mirren.
And it’s a change of competition for the American defender and his team-mates and a change of surroundings as well…
But not a change of opposition as just a week after beating St Mirren at home in the SPFL, the Hoops come up against the Paisley club again this weekend, this time in the Scottish Cup semi-final at the National Stadium.
It’s a game and occasion the Hoops defender is looking forward to as the Celts aim to book another trip there for the final next month.
He said: “We love it, playing at Hampden is really cool.
'The fixture and just the stadium itself is just a good atmosphere all round, so I’m excited by that.'
And that would solidify Celtic’s goal of bringing home a Double this season with the culmination of both the Scottish Cup and the SPFL title on the horizon.
The Celt said: “Trophies are what this club is about, it’s what this organisation is about, it’s what we try to do every time we step foot on the field.
"So, it’s a chance to win another trophy for this organisation and it means everything to us."
The last time Celtic played a semi-final at Hampden was in the League Cup back in November when they beat Rangers 3-1 just after Martin O’Neill returned as interim manager for the first time.
The Irishman is back again, and Trusty said: “I think he’s just continued from where he left off.
“We were on a run when he was here the first time, and obviously we had a tough spell, and then when he came back, he just continued from when he left.
“His leadership and presence around the team and the organisation - the players really respond well to it.”
And a win on Sundey could prove to be a springboard as the Celts head into the post-split games in search of the aforementioned Double.
Trusty said: “We take it game by game, but to get another win under our belts and to get to another final, the chance to win another trophy, it’s only positive.”
